4 Things You Need to See in Winnipeg Manitoba

I’ve been traveling to Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit family since I was a little girl. This year was my first time going without my parents, and we had so much fun. There are a few things we like to do as a family each time we go to Canada, so I thought I would share! Read below to discover 4 Things You Need to See in Winnipeg Manitoba.

1. Assiniboine Park Zoo

Assiniboine Park Zoo has 80 acres to explore and is open year-round with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. I’m always so impressed by the polar bear exhibit, which in my opinion is the gem of the park. If you’ve followed me for a bit then you know how much of a sucker I am for a good zoo, and this one is incredible.

In fact, Assiniboine Park is in and of itself a beautiful place to visit. There are beautiful gardens, trails, ponds and even outdoor concerts. You could spend your whole day there.

2. The Forks

The Forks Market is another traditional stop for my family. According to their website, “Indigenous peoples traded at The Forks, followed by European fur traders, Scottish settlers, railway pioneers and tens of thousands of immigrants.” The bottom floor of the market is filled with different restaurants, while the upper floor has several boutique stores. There’s also boat tours on the river nearby.

3. Manitoba Museum

The Manitoba Museum is a human and natural history museum and is the province’s largest, not-for-profit centre for heritage and science education. It boasts immersive galleries, interactive exhibits and even a planetarium. A stop like this would be perfect for the whole family, and is a good option for cold winter days.

4. Lower Fort Gary

The final of my 4 Things You Need to See in Winnipeg Manitoba is Lower Fort Gary. This historic location was an actual Hudson Bay Company trading post. There are people working there who are fully in character as though they are pioneers. I believe one of them may have called me a harlot because I was wearing shorts? Very authentic. We even got to have fresh baked bread. It’s an educational opportunity you do not want to miss.
