We spent May the 4th in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World. Why? Because May the 4th is Star Wars Day! We are big Star Wars fans in this family, so it was a bucket list item to get to spend the official day in our favorite land. Learn How to Celebrate Star Wars Day at Hollywood Studios below!
1. Ride Every Ride
There are three incredible Star Wars rides at Disney: Rise of the Resistance, Star Tours and Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run. Our first goal was to ride every ride in the Star Wars area of Disney World. That plan went a little awry.
Our daughter was so excited she was tall enough to ride Smugglers, because she loves all things Star Wars. However… it was just a little too scary for her. I ended up staying with her instead of riding the next two rides because she was upset.
2. Have a Drink at Oga’s Cantina
We weren’t able to get a reservation at Oga’s for May the 4th, because it was overwhelmingly busy. If you plan to go for Star Wars Day, I would plan to make that reservation months in advance. It’s definitely worth it to have a drink in space.
3. Eat a meal in Batuu
I LOVE the breakfast Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters, but the lunch wrap is also a big favorite. You can also eat a meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. They have some great choices and the atmosphere is one you can’t beat.
4. Meet a Character… or two
Lines for character meets were a little long on May the 4th, but we were able to meet Chewy. Many characters wander Batuu until sundown, so I recommend seeing your favorites earlier in the day.
5. Try Blue (or Green) Milk
We cannot walk through Galaxy’s Edge without stopping for a blue milk. It’s a requirement. Is there anything more Star Wars than a blue milk in front of the millennium falcon?
6. Get a Wookie Cookie
Right next to Star Tours is the Backlot Express, which sells the best Star Wars cookie around. A wookie cookie is basically a giant oatmeal cream pie and it’s delicious. You’ll want to share this treat.
7. Dress up!
The thing we loved most about being in Galaxy’s Edge on May the 4th was the people watching. Everyone was dressed up as various characters or in their favorite Star Wars attire. I loved seeing the creativity and feeling fully immersed in the land.
8. Play Sabacc in Galaxy’s Edge
One thing we didn’t get to do and wished we had was playing Sabacc in Galaxy’s Edge. It’s actually a really fun game for the whole family and doesn’t take long to learn. If there’s one thing more Star Wars than blue milk, it’s Sabacc.
