Is the Grand Floridian Resort Worth The Price? We stayed at this deluxe resort at Disney World to see if the rumors were true. So many lovers of Disney told us how much they loved the Grand, but we just weren’t sure it was actually worth that much money. Turns out, they were right. Read why below!
1. Service
First of all, the service at the Grand Floridian is absolutely incredible. After checking in to our room we received a short golf cart tour of the grounds. Our bellman told us some trivia about the resort and answered any and all of our questions. He even gave us a hint about two fun details in our room.
Everyone we met and the Grand Floridian was professional, prepared, attentive and kind. I was worried it would be too stuffy a hotel for our three-year-old, but I needn’t have been concerned. It was clear the goal of every cast member was to make our stay magical.
2. Rooms
The Grand Floridian recently went through a remodel and the rooms are now themed to Mary Poppins Returns. We had two queen beds with a view of the pool, and I have to say this might be my favorite theme on property. There were dozens of tiny Mary Poppins details throughout the room and lobby that were so nostalgic for me. If you love the Poppins books and movies, the Grand needs to be on your bucket list.
Also, the beds were so comfortable, which was a nice change from the Contemporary. We did have a little trouble with our shower, but they fixed it within 15 minutes.
3. Location
The Grand Floridian is located just a ten minute walk from Magic Kingdom. It’s also on the monorail line, so you can utilize that to access EPCOT. There is also a boat to Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian as well as buses for Disney Springs, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
All that to say, the location of The Grand Floridian is perfect if you plan to spend a lot of time at Magic Kingdom or your resort. (And if you stay there, you should.)
4. Food
There are several restaurants on property, including 1900 Park Fare, Beaches Pool Bar and Grill, Citricos, Enchanted Rose, Gasparilla Island Grill, Narcoossee’s and the Grand Floridian Cafe. As you can tell from this loaded list, the food at the Grand gives you enough reason to stay. We were able to try 1900 Park Fare, the Grand Floridian Car and Gasparilla. Each of them was impeccable.
I recommend making reservations ahead of time, especially for 1900 Park Fare.
5. Shopping
The Grand Floridian has several shops. I was most impressed by Basin White, a bath products store on the second floor. The staff interact so well with kids and allow them to put broken bath bombs in a tiny little tub. Our daughter loved choosing here own bath bombs for home as well as some soaps for family.
6. Pools
We only had one opportunity to enjoy the pools at the Grand, and looking back I wish we had taken more time to do so. There was plenty of seating, and our daughter was thrilled to practice her swimming. They also have a splash pad themed after Alice and Wonderland, which is just precious.
7. Fireworks
The final thing we reviewed about the Grand Floridian was the proximity to Magic Kingdom Fireworks. You can ask for a fireworks view room, eat at Narcoossee’s (which has a lovely view), or find a spot along the beach or dock. No matter what, it makes your stay at the Grand Floridian that much more magical when you can see the fireworks from your hotel.
