There are so many Wonderful Places for Kids in Manhattan Kansas. You could go for a little stay-cation or stop by during your family road trip. It’s worth the stop no matter what. Can you tell we love Kansas?
1. Play Studio
Our favorite place to visit with kids is the Play Studio. MHK Play Studio is grounded in STEAM, or the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. It’s an open play area for kids ages 0-12. They also have a cute little snack area, gift shop, and can host birthday parties.
2. KSU Insect Zoo
The KSU Insect Zoo is a personal favorite. When I attended K-State, I wanted to work there so badly. It’s a small zoo, but you can learn about all kids of insects and even take a walk around the surrounding gardens.
3. Leap
Leap is a trampoline park. Our daughter calls it the jump place, and asks to go all the time. What I think is special about Leap is the toddler hours, so if you have a little one who might get trampled by big kids during regular hours, you can try toddler time.
4. Flint Hills Discovery Center
The Flint Hills Discovery Center is a great option for kids of all ages. The facility immerses visitors in the wonder and beauty of the Flint Hills. They have interactive exhibits as well as a play area upstairs. Our favorite part is the rotating exhibits. So far we’ve seen an art, dinosaur and butterfly exhibit there.
5. Sunset Zoo
I’m such a sucker for the zoo. Sunset Zoo is on the smaller side, but they have red pandas, tigers, sloth bears, and much more. This zoo is also known for special events. You can easily get through the park in a couple hours, or spend the entire afternoon there. I’m looking forward to see more of the changes they plan to make in the future.
6. Konza Prairie
If you’re looking for a more low-key activity to do with your kids, be sure to check out the Konza Prairie hiking trails. Our daughter loves to walk with us and pick flowers. There are a variety of trail lengths and it’s beautiful out there any time of year.
7. Manhattan City Park
The Manhattan City Park has a pool, gardens, play areas, walking paths and much more. We love to spend time at the pool during the summer. They have a lazy river, which is definitely my husbands favorite thing about the park.
8. A & H Farm
A&H Farm is a a fourth-generation family farm. They have activities throughout most of the year. Things like strawberry picking, a pumpkin patch, a petting zoo, outdoor games and a beautiful gift shop. My favorite part of visiting A&H is the Budgie Barn. You can feed these adorable budgies and get up close and personal with the beautiful birds.
9. Bill Snyder Family Stadium
Obviously one of the best things about Manhattan is Kansas State University and the Wildcats. If you’re nervous about bringing your kids to a game, don’t be. It’s so much fun to go to a football or basketball game as a family.
