It’s been one full year of travel with Gentry Journeys, so I thought we would take a moment to reminisce. We’ve been a lot of places in just a year, and are looking forward to many more travel adventures in 2025. Thank you for all your support and love. Read more below about Looking Back on One Year of Travel With Gentry Journeys.
Our Favorite Places to Travel:
1. Disney World
My choice for the number one place we traveled this year was Disney World. Some of my favorite memories from 2024 took place in the happiest place on earth. I never thought I would be such a huge fan of Disney World, but there is something about the atmosphere. I love seeing the look on my daughter’s face when she gets to meet her favorite characters. And I love seeing other families experiencing that same magic. The nostalgia, inspiration and awe just well up inside me as we walk though the parks.
2. Gulf Shores Alabama
Colton’s favorite place to visit was Gulf Shores. He’s always been a big fan of the beach. He especially liked getting up in the morning and walking alone along the shore, eating sea food at Tacky Jacks and seeing dolphins in the bay.
3. Canada
Sam loved spending time with family on this trip and having a more low-key schedule. Many of our trips are faster paced, and it was nice to slow down and enjoy relaxing with our loved ones.
Our Favorite Foods:
1. Pasta
My choices for favorite foods of 2024 are the Mac and cheese from the Polite Pig or the pasta carbonara from Buca di Beppo. Up until this year I haven’t been a big fan of pasta, but we’ve had several delicious dishes this year that have made me change my mind.
2. Q39
Colton’s favorite restaurant of the year was Q39 in Kansas City. This is a BBQ joint that’s a favorite of Andy Reeds, coach of the KC Chiefs. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. His honorable mention for food is the crab legs at Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores.
3. Pasta at Pim’s
Sam’s favorite food of 2024 was the pasta dish she ate at Pim’s Test Kitchen. We were all really impressed by this restaurant. She would also like to give a shout-out to the crab legs at Tacky Jacks.
Our Favorite Activities:
1. Glass Art at Epcot
There is a small stand in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT where you can make small glass art. Colton and I designed small glass souvenirs that were finished and later mailed to us at home.
2. Visiting a Flour Mill
Earlier this year we went on a short train ride in Abilene, KS to visit a flour mill. It sounds pretty simple, but this was Colton’s favorite activity of the year. It was interesting to learn about how flour is made and the history of the railway in Kansas.
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
Sam’s favorite travel activity of 2024 was riding the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride in California Adventure. She and Colton waited a long time to get on this ride and had quite an adventure when a line-skipping opportunity saved them another 30+ minutes of waiting.
