6 Tips for Watching Fantasmic with Little Kids

We finally had the opportunity to experience Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios on our latest trip to Disney World. I’m not sure we will be going again until my daughter is a bit older, but I’m still glad we got to experience the show. Read our 5 Tips for Watching Fantasmic with Little Kids below!

1. Arrive Early… but not too early.

We arrived at Fantasmic about an hour before the show started, which was plenty of time to find a seat. It’s a very large outdoor amphitheater, and when you arrive the cast members will direct you to the area they are currently filling. We were seated in the center of the amphitheater, which would have been lovely, but there was a large pole blocking part of the view.

In the future I think we will be looking for a seat on the left or right side, perhaps away from a pole if we can manage it. Now, because we shoed up early there was some difficulty keeping my preschooler entertained while we waited for the show to begin. Keep that in mind if you are arriving early in order to get good seats.

2. Bring an Activity

On that note, I recommend bringing some sort of activity to entertain your kids while you wait for the show to begin. I wish I had had something small in our bag like coloring or even play doh. There was a family a few rows in front of us playing charades, which was a great idea, but a little advanced for our girl.

3. Bright Lights, Loud Noise, and Water

Fantasmic is a large production with lots of bright lights, loud noises and water effects. If you sit in the lower portion of the amphitheater, be warned you may get hit with some water. I also recommend packing noise-reducing headphones for those who are sensitive to sound.

4. You Can Bring Snacks

Did you know you can bring snacks and drinks to watch Fantasmic? In our house with a preschooler, snacks are life, so it was good to know we could bring them to the show. They even have a little cart at the top of the stairs with different Disney treats. It also might be fun to grab a special snack from the park to enjoy with your family while you wait. A wookie cookie and Fantasmic? Yes please.

5. Nightmares

The premise of the show is that Mickey is having a dream that he can do wonderful, fantastic things. However, part way through the dream different villains try and turn it into a nightmare. Mickey has to claim the dream as his own to triumph over evil. It’s a beautiful story, but for a small child it could be scary. My daughter struggled with nightmares for a few days after the show.

6. Walking

The last of my 6 Tips for Watching Fantasmic with Little Kids is be prepared to walk. The amphitheater is quite a jaunt from the front entrance to Hollywood Studios. That’s good to know if you are pushing a stroller!
