Choosing a time to visiting Disney World can be tricky business. Sometimes your dates are dependent on when you can get vacation, but if you have more flexibility then there are a few things to think about. Read more about the Events to Consider Before Visiting Disney World this Year below!

1. Races
On our most recent trip to Disney World, I was surprised to find out it was race weekend. Throughout the year Disney hosts several different races, including a 5k, 10k and Half Marathon. On race weekends the parks are flooded with people either there to participate or cheer on their loved ones. While we didn’t find the crowds to be too difficult to navigate during the January race, it is something to consider before you choose dates.
2. Epcot Festivals
Other events to consider are the Epcot Festivals. Things like the Festival of the Arts, Flower and Garden or the Food and Wine Festival can bring bigger crowds to Epcot. You may find that during that time other parks are more manageable.

3. Holidays
The busiest time of year at Disney World is during the holidays. The week of Thanksgiving, the week of Christmas and New Years, or even Easter weekend are all busy. Kids are out of school and it’s easier for families to take vacation. If you are planning to come during this time of year, be sure to give yourself extra time each day to accommodate for bigger crowds. Wait times will be longer and Disney hotels will have elevated pricing.
4. Minor Holidays
Something I often forget about are more minor holidays such as Memorial Day or Labor Day. Though the crowds won’t be as overwhelming as on more major holidays, but they will still be elevated. Remember, any days when people can easily get off work the parks will be more crowded.

5. Spring Break
You might be tempted to utilize Spring Break to visit Disney, but keep in mind a lot of families are thinking the exact same thing. Florida is a major destination during the week of Spring Break. We try and avoid this particular week if possible. The holidays are so festive it makes the crowds worth it, but Mid-March? Not really.
Bonus: Is Weather an Event?
If weather is considered an event, then it’s an important one to consider when planning your next trip to Disney World. Summer in Florida can be brutal. If you averse to the heat then I recommend traveling to Disney in Mid January or early February. It’s also a good idea to be prepared for hurricane season. We had to fly home five days early last year in order to avoid an incoming hurricane.
