It’s only April, but we’ve made plenty of travel mistakes so far this year. Things don’t always go smoothly when you are traveling as a family, but those sticky moments are some of the most memorable. Learn from us and read about the Top 5 Travel Mistakes We’ve Made This Year below!

1. No Clothes in the Carry-on
We had a six hour delay in the Orlando airport in March. For awhile it looked like we wouldn’t be leaving at all. The worst part was I hadn’t packed a single item of clothing in our carry-on. Not one. If our daughter had an accident or spilled on herself, we would have been in quite a pickle. Always pack something in your carry-on… just in case.
2. We Didn’t Pack Wipes
We don’t have a baby anymore, but if you are traveling with a kid… just pack wipes.
3. Grocery Order Mishaps
When we will be somewhere longer than a couple days, I typically do a small grocery order through Amazon Fresh. Ordering groceries saves us money on snacks in theme parks. However, its good to check if your hotel will accept an order from Amazon Fresh. During one of our more recent stays at the new Stella Nova Hotel near Epic Universe, we were surprised to find out they will not hold groceries. Unless you are in the lobby ready to receive them, they turn the groceries away. Which… is what happened to us.

4. Forgetting to Book a Flight
Possibly the worst travel mistake I have ever made was when I forgot to book our flights. Well, I booked Colton’s flight. I thought I had used our miles to book all three of our flights, but either I made a mistake or the airline did and only Colton had a ticket. Always, always, always re-check your flights before you travel. Last minute flights can be pricey or simply unavailable.
5. Checking the Event Schedule
My daughter and I took a solo trip to Disney World early this year, and discovered after we arrived that it was race weekend. Now the race didn’t interfere with our plans too much, but the crowds were larger than normal due to the event. That’s something I normally check before booking dates, and it was a good reminder to always look at the Disney events before we travel.
