A Review of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

On October 1st we had the privilege of attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It was an absolute blast, and I think I speak for the whole group when I say we would definitely do it again. If you’ve been thinking of attending a Halloween party at Disney World, this post is for you! Read A Review of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party below.

Peter Pan costumes for Disney World

1. Costumes

One of my favorite parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was seeing all the costumes! Our family dressed up as characters from Peter Pan, which was a relatively common choice. There were so many clever group costumes, such characters from Holes, the geese from Aristocats, or ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. I loved watching people in the crowd and trying to figure out who they were.

2. Early Entry

The Halloween party doesn’t start until 7:00pm, but you can get into Magic Kingdom as early as 4:00pm. I highly recommend you take advantage of the hours prior to the party. We used it to ride several rides as a family, but you could do all sorts of things in that amount of time.

3. Low Wait Times

The wait times before and during the party were very low. I was actually surprised at how empty it felt when we entered the park around 4:00pm. If you are someone who loves to go on rides but hates to wait in a line, then a party day/night might be for you!

4. Character Meet and Greets

We were able to meet a few fun characters in person during the party, but saw many more in the shows and parades. My daughter requested to meet Alice, so we got in line to say hi to her and the Mad Hatter. We also got to dance with Fancy Nancy, Vampirina, Doc McStuffins and Timone. Ronia LOVED dancing with the characters. It was probably the highlight of her night.

5. Spooky Foods

We ate so much delicious food at the Halloween party. I will attempt to list them below with a little review as to whether or not you should try it. There are also candy stops around the park, but we didn’t really take advantage of them.

Cheshire Cat
– MMMummy Treat: This was a little sweet, so I didn’t finish it.
– Queen of Hearts Slushy: My sister thought this slushy was really refreshing, but did NOT like the crown on top.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café
– Terrifyin’ Twice-Spiced Chicken Sandwich: My husband really enjoyed this sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with the jalapeño poppers.
– The Snarling Sub: I thought this was delicious. Pesto and marinara, who knew?

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café
– Bowl of Bones: These wings were absolutely incredible. And I’m not usually a wings girl.

The Friar’s Nook
– Buffalo Chicken Hand Pie: My sister really enjoyed this hand pie, but she got it without blue cheese.

6. Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular

The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular was incredible. We showed up about 20 minutes or so before the show began and were able to find a spot near the front of the castle. I will say in the future I would rather be front and center. Our spot on the side made it difficult to see the characters at certain times. Still, it was a 10/10 for me. Very nostalgic characters and the show itself was impressive.

7. Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade

Another iconic moment during the party was Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade. We love a good parade. My daughter just lights up when the characters pass by. However, she was having too much fun dancing with Timone, so we were a little late in getting a spot for the parade. I recommend arriving 20-30 minutes prior to the start if you want a front row spot. It begins in Frontier Land and ends in the Town Square.

Also, Michael “Goob” Yagoobian, A.K.A. the Bowler Hat Guy, from Meet the Robinsons movie was in the parade. When I say I lost my cool….

8. Fireworks from the Boat

The party goes until 12:00pm, but after the parade around 10:00pm, I could tell it was time for us to go. My daughter was tired and our feet were hurting. The Wilderness Lodge had a boat available for our transportation, and I’m so glad we took it. As though timed on purpose, the fireworks started right as our boat was leaving.

It was such a beautiful sight. We didn’t have to deal with a crowd, but got to witness all the wonder and beauty. Watching the fireworks from our boat was the perfect end to a very fun night.
