Why You Need to Stay on Property at Disney World

We stay on property every time we go to Disney World. Why? Well, I could name a dozen reasons, but for the sake of this post I narrowed it down to my top six. Read below to discover Why You Need to Stay on Property at Disney World.

Disney's riviera

1. Transportation

Depending on which Disney hotel you choose, there are several forms of transportation which make getting to and from the parks much easier. There are buses, the Skyliner, boats, or even Minnie Vans. I recommend figuring out which parks are a priority for you, then choosing your hotel based on the best transportation for that park.

2. Early Entry

Disney Hotel guests are able to enter the parks 30 minutes prior to park opening. That may not seem like a lot (especially because at Universal Studios hotel guests are able to enter 1 hour prior), but you can accomplish a lot in 30 minutes.

3. Nap Time/Breaks

The biggest reason we choose to stay on property is easy access to our hotel room. We are able to go back mid-day for nap time or a break. If we forget something, we can easily retrieve it and then return to the parks. If you also cherish nap time or a mid-day break, staying on property is an excellent idea.

4. Late Park Hours

Not only can you get into theme parks earlier when you stay on property, but you can also stay later. Deluxe Resorts and villas have extended evening hours for guests, which is kind of fun! I’m always pretty done by 9 or 10, but if you are a night owl, this might be a benefit you enjoy.

5. Airport Transportation

There are several services that make it easy to get to and from the airport without needing to rent a car or take an Uber. Mears in particular is very easy to work with, especially if you have a baby or toddler and don’t want to worry about packing a car seat.

6. Early Dining Reservations

If you are staying on Disney property, you get to make your dining reservations before anyone else. 60 days prior to your trip you can make reservations for the entire stay. If you stay off-property, you can only make reservations for a single day at a time, 60 days prior to your park reservation. This small advantage really comes in handy.
