Having an evening routine while at Disney World helps to set me up for success the next day. Mornings can be chaotic, because everyone is excited, tired, anxious and hungry all at the same time. Do future you a favor and prepare yourself and your family the night before a park day. Below are my tips for Optimizing Your Evening Routine at Disney World.
1. Reset the Stroller
One of the first things I do to start our evening routine at Disney is reset the stroller. It always ends up being full of random trash and food crumbs. Our stroller set up is pretty simple, but there are content creators such as @bekah.hart and @pixiedustedmom on Youtube who have videos about their more complex set up!
I recommend the following items in your stroller:
- a stroller cover – nothing worse than a wet stroller
- a reusable shopping bag – for souvenirs or just collecting all your stuff
- string of battery powered lights – SO much easier to find your stroller at night
2. Pack Your Park Bag
It’s also a good idea to reset your park bag for the day. It’s one less thing you have to do in the morning. I have a couple different blog posts talking about what to include in your bag, so be sure to check those out for more details:

3. Set Out Your Clothes
We don’t Disney bound or dress up for the parks, but my family does like to coordinate. I lay out clothes for myself, my husband and my daughter the night before so everyone can easily get dressed the next day. I even recommend laying out things like underwear, socks, hair bows, jewelry, etc. It’s so much easier to get ready in the morning when you don’t have to find things in your luggage.
4. Charge Your Magic Bands
If you have MagicBand+ then be sure to recharge your band each evening. We LOVE our bands and use them for rides, purchases and even getting into our room. It’s so unfortunate when you forget to charge the band and it stops working halfway though the day.
5. Think About Breakfast
My family can get pretty hangry in the morning. I always keep things like bananas, granola bars, yogurt pouches or jerky sticks in our room. These are snacks we can take with us on our walk to the park, but leave room for a bigger meal later. Always have a plan for breakfast.
6. Keep a Similar Routine
If you are traveling with kids and they have a pretty standard bedtime routine at home, try to keep to that routine as much as possible. For example, my daughter likes to read a book and sing with us before she goes to sleep. We do that every night, even on vacation. Keeping that routine will help give your child some comfort while away from home.
7. Relax
You are on vacation! Take some time before you go to bed at night to read, talk with family or watch a movie together. Getting a good night of sleep is a key part of having a good day at Disney.
