One of our favorite Disney World hotels to date is the Old Key West Resort. We rented DVC points (or Disney Vacation Club points) for the first time, and will definitely be doing it again. Read below to discover Why We Love Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
1. Atmosphere
Being at Disney’s Old Key West Resort feels like being in a remote Florida location in vacation. It was by far the most relaxing hotel we’ve stayed in at Disney. Throughout our stay we never got caught in a crowd or heard loud neighbors. Honestly, it was just serene, which is rare to find at Disney World.
2. Space
We rented DVC points for our stay at the Old Key West Resort and chose a 1 bedroom villa. The room was so incredibly spacious that it felt like luxury. There was a lovely patio, living room, full kitchen, bathtub and shower, and even a laundry room. When traveling with family, it’s nice for everyone to have their one space, and our room gave us plenty of that.
3. Laundry
Speaking of a laundry room, something else I loved about our stay at the Old Key West Resort was having a full laundry room. Our family was at Disney for several days, and while we were there it rained and was quite chilly. I ended up doing a couple loads of laundry after some of our warmer clothes got wet. It was nice not to have to leave the room to do so.
4. Bus System
Maybe we just had a lucky streak, but I swear every time we left our room to head to the parks, a bus would be there within two minutes of arriving at the bus stop. Outside the bus stop they post the wait times, and those times are very accurate. I was impressed by the efficiency.
5. Proximity
Obviously the #1 reason to stay at a Disney World resort is the proximity to the parks. While we were staying at Old Key West, we attended the Very Merry Christmas Party in Magic Kingdom, and had no trouble getting to and from our room to attend. It’s so nice not to have to worry about transportation when staying at a Disney hotel.
