What to Pack a Preschooler for Disney World

We tried out some new things on our latest trip to Disney World, so I thought I would share the things my daughter liked to play with most. You will obviously need to pack more practical things for your preschooler like snacks and a water bottle, etc. However, for this post I’m just going to talk about things we used to successfully entertain her on the plane or in lines. activities for kids travel

1. Sparkly Slime

By far the thing that entertained my daughter most on the flight to Orlando was this sparkly slime I got at Target. She called it her mermaid skin and would spread it all over her arms and fingers to pretend to be a beautiful mermaid.

2. Tray Cover

We brought this plane tray table cover from Amazon for the first time, and I fell in love. The edges snap together to keep toys and activities from falling on the ground, and when you fold up the tray there is still a slot for a tablet or storage for more activities. It was incredibly helpful when she played with her slime and I will be packing it again.

3. Fidget Toy

We bought this stretchy fidget pipe Daisy toy in Disney World, and it entertained her for most of that day and on the flight home. Sadly she bit the arms and legs, so the toy will no longer collapse. However, I thought it was worth it for the entertainment it brought for a few days. I highly recommend packing some fidget toys when traveling with a preschooler.

4. Stickers

Stickers are always a huge hit with our girl. I like to bring regular sticker and reusable ones. Both will entertain her for a good amount of time and are easy to pack.

5. LCD Tablet

The LCD tablet is another repeat success when we travel. Ronia loves to draw us pictures and or trace her hands. It’s compact for travel and hasn’t run out of battery since we purchased it over a year ago.

6. Blanket/Lovey

If your little one has a special lovey or blanket they like to sleep with, I highly recommend taking it with you. Our daughter sleeps better when she’s away from home is she has a blanket and stuffed animal.

7. Bubble Wand

Our #1 entertainment in Disney World is a bubble wand. We bought one at the parks last year and just bring it to reuse on each trip. She only gets to play with it in the parks, so its an extra special toy. You can buy bubble refills for a couple dollars, which is helpful, or you could pack your own bubbles.

8. Collapsible Cups

Ronia loves these little silicone collapsible cups I got from Amazon. She plays with them in our hotel room, in the bath, or even at the pool. They don’t take up too much room in our bag and are easy to clean, so I make sure to pack them on every trip.

9. Tiny Characters

We have fun little characters that Ronia plays with at home often. I let her pick a few to bring on each trip and they make a great toy for the hotel room especially. It’s so fun to watch her imagination run wild when she plays with them.

10. Coloring

You can’t ever really go wrong with coloring. I make sure to stash a few small crayons in our bag and a small coloring book or blank note book. They also give out coloring pages to kids at most of the restaurants.

Bonus: Tablet

I have noticed that the more time our daughter gets watching a show or movie on the tablet, the more sassy she becomes. So I tend to save the tablet for the flight home at the end of the trip. That makes it extra special and usually gives us a break as well.
