How to Create a Budget-Friendly Theme Park Bag

When I saw the prices of Stoney Clover fanny packs I was just horrified. The idea was cute, but I wasn’t about to spend that much money on such a small bag. So I decided to visit our local Hobby Lobby and see if I could make one of my own. They turned out so cute, so I thought I would share these simple steps for anyone who might be interested. Learn How to Create a Budget-Friendly Theme Park Bag below!

1. Buy Patches at Hobby Lobby

There are all sorts of patches sold at Hobby Lobby. I especially love their selection for Disney and Universal theme parks, but they have a wide selection.

2. Buy a Sling Bag

You can also get a sling bag or fanny pack at Hobby Lobby or on Etsy. Our Hobby Lobby was out of stock when I was making my bag, so I ended up getting one on Etsy for like $15.

3. Add the Patch

The next step is simple. You just read the instructions on your patch and apply. I made two bags (E.T. and Jurassic Park). The instructions had me place the patch on my sling bag, place a damp towel over the patch and then iron it on to seal. I did this little DIY over a year ago and they are holding up wonderfully!

4. Enjoy the Park!

The best part about making a park bag is using it at your favorite park. Don’t be afraid to be a little extra at Disney or Universal and wear a bag themed after your favorite land or IP. It makes your vacation that much more magical… on a budget!
