We recently stayed a few nights at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s one of the deluxe resorts on property, and I’ve always been curious if the price tag was worth the amenities. If you’ve also been curious about this resort, please read A Review of the Contemporary Resort at Disney World below!
1. Rooms
We stayed in the Main Tower in a Theme Park View room. The Contemporary Resort recently went through a renovation, so all the rooms are themed to the Incredibles. The details in the room are so cool to see. For example, if you look in the closet you can see the Incredible’s costumes or in the bedside drawer you can see the remote for the “Incredibile.” If you have a little one who loves those films, this resort should definitely be on your list.
We had two queen sized beds, a long couch, table, plenty of storage and a large bathroom. It was really a nice layout. Also, I believe the couch could turn into another bed, which would be good for a bigger family.
The one thing I will say is the beds were not the most comfortable. I might be spoiled with my mattress at home, but I wouldn’t stay at the Contemporary longer than two night simply because my back would hurt.
2. Food
There is quite variety of food options at the Contemporary. Steakhouse 71 was already a favorite of ours. They also have the California Grill, which I hear is amazing and has an impressive view. Then there is Chef Mickeys, which is a character dining experience and finally the Contemporary Cafe. All in all I think each restaurant is good in its own way and there are plenty of option to appease everyone in your family.
3. Pool
There are technically two pools at the resort and both are excellent. Our daughter loved swimming in the main pool and even tried out the big kid slide. There was plenty of seating and the lifeguards were very kind.
4. Park Access
One of the best perks about staying at the Contemporary Resort is easy access to Magic Kingdom. From our room to the entrance of the park it was maybe a ten minute walk. Incredible. The buses ran pretty well, although the resort is farther from a park like Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. You can take the Monorail to EPCOT, but that is quite a journey.
Basically, if you plan to spend more time at your resort or Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary is an excellent fit.
5. Service
The service at our resort was impressive. Everyone was kind and went out of their way to ask if we needed anything. We have nothing bad to say about any of the cast members.
6. The View!
Finally, the real reason for staying at the Contemporary Resort….. the view! We had a theme park view room and could not get over it. Waking up to Cinderella Castle out your window? Fireworks on the balcony every night? There’s nothing that can compare to the beauty of that view. Worth every penny.
