A Review of Universal Orlando’s New Hotel: Stella Nova

Last week we stayed at Universal Orlando’s newest hotel, the Stella Nova. My expectations for this hotel were perhaps a little too high, so I was let down by a few issues we had during our stay. However, keep in mind that it is a new hotel and they are still making tweaks and adjustments. Read A Review of Universal Orlando’s New Hotel: Stella Nova below!

1. Theming

The Stella Nova Resort is inspired by the infinite vastness of the unexplored universe. The chairs, decor and lighting are all very futuristic. I found the theming really cool, and the exterior of the hotel looks beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

2. Food

I’m sorry to say the food at Stella Nova wasn’t very exciting. I found myself not really finishing the things I ordered. My daughter liked the chicken strips and we did like the cheesecake, but other than that it was average (or below) hotel food.

3. Outdoor Amenities

In my opinion the best part of the Stella Nova Resort is the pool area. The water is heated, so even on a 75 degree day it felt nice in the water. There’s also a little splash pad for kids, a variety of outdoor games, and more than enough chairs and shade. We loved spending time out there during our stay.

4. Rooms

The rooms were spacious enough for a prime value resort. The view of Epic Universe was amazing, and definitely worth the stay. However, there was a glaring issue with our room during the stay.

Stella Nova is attempting to be more energy conscious, which is admirable. There is a sensor that will turn off the bathroom light if there is no movement for an extended period of time. That sensor also turns on the light if it senses movement. See the issue? All night long if one of us rolled in our sleep the light would turn on an off. On and off. On and off. It was maddening. The next day I realized it was the sensor and we covered it before bedtime each night. That solved the problem, but I wish there was a switch you could use to disable the sensor at night.

5. Team Members

In spite of the issue in our room, we found all Stella Nova team members to be kind, helpful and understanding. They were great with our four year old, readily answered any questions we had and made things right when they went wrong. They are truly the stars of the show.

6. Roadwork

As a reminder, this is a brand new hotel next to a brand new theme park that will be opening in May of 2025. That being said, there is quite a bit of roadwork going on near the hotel. Every day routes change and different parts of the roads are open. That made getting too and from Universal Studios a bit tricky. Our bus rides averaged anywhere from 15-25 minutes. Just keep that in mind if you choose this hotel while construction is still in progress.
