There is so much to do at Disney World I think you could spend decades going to the parks and not experience it all. This year I had the privilege of experiencing a few new activities that have become my favorite things to do in the parks. Read all about my three favorite Extra Activities to Try at Disney World below!
1. Pin Trading
I was introduced to pin trading in June of this year, and immediately fell in love with the concept. Disney pin trading is an interactive experience with guests and cast members. Guests with official Disney pins can go to pin trading boards or cast members with pin lanyards and ask to trade pins. The trade is a pin for a pin, no matter which one you have (as long as its a legitimate Disney pin).
Now, this all might sound silly if you’ve never done it before, but it’s so much fun once you start to figure things out. You can find pin boards all over the parks and hotels. Some locations even have secret boards! Trading pins is such a fun extra activity provided by the Disney parks.
2. Becoming a Wilderness Explorer
My second favorite activity at Disney World is becoming a Wilderness Explorer. This is an interactive experience where you can complete activities and collect more than 25 badges in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The whole concept is based on the movie Up, so if you haven’t seen that film then you should give it a watch.
Now you might think this activity is for kids, but my sister and I had so much fun earning badges and learning more about the park and nature. It’s a lovely addition to your trip and I highly recommend.
3. Animation Experience
The final experience on my list of 3 Extra Activities to Try at Disney World is the Animation Experience. This is also located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. In the Animation Experience a talented Disney animator gives you step-by-step instructions on how to illustrate a popular Disney character. It’s about a 25 minute class and takes place in the air conditioning, so that’s a win in itself.
My sister and I had so much fun taking the class in June and there were people of all ages in attendance. I highly recommend you try this experience if you haven’t had the opportunity. It remains one of my top highlights of Disney.
