How to Be Prepared for a Rainy Disney Day

A rainy Disney day is more common than you might imagine. On our most recent journey to Disney World it rained 95% of the weekend. Luckily I had seen the weather forecast and was much more prepared for the rain than others were that weekend. Read below to learn How to Be Prepared for a Rainy Disney Day.

1. Pack a Real Rain Jacket

Ponchos can be good in a pinch, but the best thing to do on a rainy Disney day is bring a real rain jacket. You will have more coverage and a real jacket isn’t going to rip. It will also be easier to use multiple days in a row.

2. Think About Shoe Covers

There’s nothing worse than wet shoes and socks, especially if they stay wet for multiple days in a row. I’ve seen people at Disney wear plastic shoe covers that zip over your tennis shoes. My family thought they looked silly, so I didn’t get them, but I wish I had!

3. Double up with an Umbrella

When the rain is really coming down sometimes you need more than a rain jacket. I recommend packing a small umbrella you can easily carry around the parks. Or if you are really brave you could pack just the umbrella? I would bring both.

4. Don’t Forget a Stroller Cover

If you are traveling with a little one, or if you are going to Disney World in general, please do not forget to pack your stroller cover. And keep it ready to go on your stroller at all times. You never know when there will be a surprise rain!

5. Bring a Plastic Bag

Another tip I have for How to Be Prepared for a Rainy Disney Day is to bring a plastic bag. It rained so much on our last trip that when I opened my bag to get something out then all my things would get wet. Protect your things by wrapping them in a plastic bag inside your diaper bag, purse or Loungefly.

6. Pack Extra Socks

Now, because we didn’t bring those show covers our tennis shoes did get a little wet. Therefore our socks also became wet. Halfway through the day I asked to go back to our room so I could change into dry socks. I will never not travel with extra socks again.

7. Wear Layers

We went to Disney World in mid-February and it was rather chilly with the wind and rain. I ended up wearing a t-shirt, sweatshirt, rain jacket, pants and even a stocking cap. Be prepared to wear some layers, depending on the time of year.
