This restaurant is tucked away in the African area of Animal Kingdom and features Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy in their safari gear. Is Tusker House the Best Character Meal at Disney? We’ll let you be the judge!
1. Characters
The number one reason to choose character dining is, well, for the characters. As I mentioned above, Tusker House features Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy in their safari garb. The character interactions at this restaurant were just precious. They took their time at our table and even came back more than once during our meal.
2. Food
I was expecting to be eating breakfast at Tusker House, but we had apparently just missed the breakfast/lunch turnover. The buffet features African-inspired flavors, such as Moroccan-Spiced Beef, Berbere-Marinated Pork, Spit-Roasted Herb Chicken and Cape Malay Green Curry Shrimp.
They do have more plain fare for children, a salad bar and the most delightful dessert selection. I was nervous about the food at first, because I don’t normally love spice, but I shouldn’t have been concerned. The food was outstanding!
(I apologize for not getting better photos of the food. I had planned to take them when we were leaving, but my daughter was inconsolable and I wasn’t able to snag them.)
3. Atmosphere
Tusker House is themed after a lively Harambe marketplace. There was plenty of space between tables and everyone was having such a good time. I thoroughly enjoyed our time in this restaurant. It was not overly loud, well organized and would be a great place to take break with family in the middle of a long park day.
4. Cast Members
Is Tusker House the Best Character Meal at Disney? Well, if it is then the cast members make it so. My daughter had so much fun at this restaurant she cried when we had to leave. The cast members were sweet enough to bring Daisy and Donald over to give her one more hug. They went the extra mile to make our day magical, and that’s the highest praise I can give.
