My husband and I LOVE to visit San Diego. In our five years of marriage we went there three times, and would have been many more had it not been for my brother-in-law. He says there are other places in the world to see. Who knew? Regardless, San Diego is still one of my favorite places on the planet. Take a look below at our picks for the 6 San Diego Foods You Need to Try.
1. Bacon Cheeseburger at Farmer and the Seahorse
Such a hidden gem. This restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy that California sun, as well as an area to play yard games with friends and family. If you are looking for a relaxing restaurant in Torrey Pines with excellent service and a superior menu, look no further!
I ordered the Grass Fed Bacon Cheeseburger on a Brioche Bun. Yum. Colton had a fish taco of sorts, but I no longer see it on the online menu. He was pretty jealous of my burger. It was dang good.
2. Smoothie Bowl at Northside Shack
My first smoothie bowl ever was from the Northside Shack, and I have never looked back. Having a smoothie bowl for breakfast is now one of my favorite things. The staff are very kind in explaining the concept to newbies such as myself.
My bowl (pictured above) is acai with granola, peanut butter, banana and honey. Delicious.
3. Pancakes at Caroline’s Seaside Cafe
Breakfast is my favorite meal at any time of the day. Can you ever go wrong with breakfast? I mean, especially eating delicious pancakes and bacon with an ocean view. It’s the perfect combination.
Colton and I highly recommend the breakfast potatoes for anyone not low carb or keto. They are drool worthy for sure.
4. A Single Slice of Pizza from Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria on 30th Street in North Park
One slice is definitely plenty! This pizzeria is a little hole-in-the-wall type place with AMAZING deep dish pizza. Colton and I make a point to go back every time we are in the city. It’s too good to miss! Parking can be a little tricky, so be ready for that.
5. Anything from Extraordinary Desserts
There is a reason this restaurant is called Extraordinary Desserts. Every pie, pastry and cake looked mouth-watering good. Colton and I ate so much food at this restaurant we felt sick for hours.
It was still worth it.
6. Chocolate Ice Cream at Scoops in La Jolla
Once again, you could really pick any flavor and I’m sure it would be equally amazing, but I am a chocolate girl through and through. Scoops is a highly Instagram-able Artisan Ice Cream Shop. We went in the evening, and it was pretty crowded.
