My sister and I took a girls trip to Disney World in June of 2023, and it was so much fun. Our vacation was only a long weekend, so three nights and four days, but we still accomplished so much! Read below to discover What We Did on Our Girls Trip to Disney World in June.
For context, my sister and I had park hopper tickets for all three days. We utilized Genie+ every day and stayed in the 50s section of the Pop Century resort.
Thursday June 8th – Morning
Our flights out of Kansas City was at 5:10 in the morning, so it was an early start. However, taking an early flight got us into Magic Kingdom before 11am, which I thought was a win.
We started our day in Magic Kingdom eating cheeseburger spring rolls, taking castle pictures and riding Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid.
Afterward, we ate at Steakhouse 71, which was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying that restaurant next time you are at Disney. 10/10.
The heat was pretty intense in the afternoon. Still, we managed to ride Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise.
Thursday June 8th – Evening
The key to any successful summer day in a theme park is a mid-day break. After we had freshened up at our hotel we went back to Magic Kingdom and rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, It’s a Small World. Then we did a little exploring.
Have you ever walked through the castle? The mosaics on the walls are absolutely stunning. So, after we had marveled at the beauty of the castle some more we got corn dogs at Casey’s Corner. Obiviously. We had coconut dole whip at Aloha Isle for dessert. Yum. To finish the day we looked around the shops and waited for the Happily Ever After fireworks. They were certainly worth the wait.
Friday June 9th – Morning
Day two of our girls trip might have been my favorite day. We went to Animal Kingdom and started our morning as wilderness explorers. You can actually be initiated as an explorer and find badges throughout Animal Kingdom. How fun!
After taking the train to Rafikis Planet Watch and learning a lot about animals, we went to Pandora for an early lunch. We then rode Na’vi River Journey, because it’s a family favorite.
The Safari was next, and although it was really beautiful and worth the trip, the heat was oppressive and our journey was very bumpy. We decided a long air conditioning break would be good, so we chose the Animation Experience at Rafikis Planet Watch and learned to draw Copper from Fox and the Hound.
Finally, we grabbed a quick iced beverage and headed back to the room for a break.
Friday June 9th – Evening
Our Friday evening started off a little rough as we waited in the lightning lane for Rise of the Resistance in Hollywood Studios. The ride had been been down earlier in the day, so the lightning lane was incredibly long. However, Rise is our favorite Disney World ride so it’s always worth the wait in my opinion.
After Rise we spent some time exploring Galaxy’s Edge, meeting Kylo Ren and the storm troopers, and having a drink in Oga’s Cantina.
Our dinner was at Hollywood Derby, which I had been very excited to try. However, I would not recommend this restaurant. The cobb salad was soggy and my sister got the pork chop, which was dry and bland. Sad, but true.
There was a storm coming when we finished dinner, so we decided to head back to the hotel early and get some rest.
Saturday June 10th – Morning
Saturday was by far the hottest day of our trip. We spent the morning in EPCOT and just enjoyed the beauty of the park for an hour or two. My sister had never been, so she was excited to just enjoy the park.
We rode the Finding Nemo ride and explored the aquariums before starting in Mexico with the Flower and Garden food crawl. For more on what we enjoyed from the festival, check out The Best Foods at EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival 2023.
Before returning to our hotel for a much needed break we rode Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Frozen Ever After (which had been down most of the day), and even met the Evil Queen!
Saturday June 10th – Evening
By Saturday evening my sister and I were utterly exhausted, but we managed to find a second wind after ice cold showers and a change of clothes. Animal Kingdom was calling our name, so we made our way to that park and my sister rode Exploration Everest (I am not a roller coaster girl). Then we rode Dinosaur, wandered around, ate some BBQ Mac & Cheese, and went back to pandora for one last ride on Na’vi River.
